Biography

This collaboration began with a shared fascination with the possibilities of glass, a material both responsive and unpredictable, continually revealing new directions through making.

Sam’s murrine patterns, rooted in classical European technique, carry rhythm and precision formed at the furnace. Aya’s blown forms magnify and transform these patterns, allowing the colors and structures to expand into new spatial movements. Each piece becomes a meeting point between control and release, pattern and breath.

Together, we are interested in how glass reveals both its memory and transformation, how molten color and structure shift with time, heat, and gravity. The collaboration continues to evolve through conversation, intuition, and mutual curiosity, celebrating the craft’s capacity for renewal through partnership.
