Biography
Salehi is a first generation Canadian artist with Polish and Iranian heritage, whose background informs her research-driven approach to systems of exploitation and nonhuman ecologies. Alongside her interdisciplinary practice, Salehi maintains a material-based relationship to glass. She has worked extensively with kiln-formed processes, including pâte de verre, using mould-based techniques to create fragile sculptural forms that resist glass’s expected transparency and optical clarity. This material sensibility continues to inform her broader sculptural language.
Salehi received her MFA in Fine Arts from The New School’s Parsons School of Design in 2023, supported by the President’s Scholarship. She holds a BFA in Sculpture and Installation from OCAD University (2020) and previously studied glass at Sheridan College Craft & Design. Her work has been exhibited internationally and across Canada. She has been a resident and fellow at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Mildred’s Lane, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, Vermont Studio Center, and Sculpture Space, among others. She currently lives and works in New York City.
