Kasia Czarnota is an emerging artist and sculptor concentrating primarily in the mediums of kiln cast and blown glass. Working from a melding of factual memory and youthful fantasy, she is inspired by childhood and the tiny but wondrous moments that make up a day in a young life. Her ideas are made cohesive by the central themes of family, relationships, history and fragility. Using old family photographs and clothing as inspiration, she has been trying to reconcile her historical place in time as a creative individual with new world values that conflict with those of a traditional Eastern European immigrant family. Kasia’s sculptural practice involves image and object manipulation that play with glass’ various qualities including granular delicacy on one level and its unique transparency on the other.
Kasia Czarnota is represented by Sandra Ainsley Gallery, located in Toronto, the leading contemporary glass art gallery in Canada.
