Biography

Peter Bremers

I started my career creating light sculptures, using many different materials including Perspex to make lenses and prisms. Being confronted with the possibilities of blown glass and the direct way of expressing myself in this medium, glass became the main material for my art work. A very inspirational voyage to the Antarctic in 2001, demanded a new approach to form and material resulting in a body of work using kiln casting techniques.

My love of travel, meeting diverse cultures and being surrounded by the beauty of nature, are translated into my art forms as an in-depth personal expression of how I feel connected to earth as well as my own ongoing spiritual development.

Challenged by public and private commissions, I have frequently combined other materials with glass in an array of techniques, including fusing, laminating and optical cutting.

Last but not least I am known for creating large outdoor glass sculptures.

Peter Bremers is represented by Sandra Ainsley Gallery, located in Toronto, the leading contemporary glass art gallery in Canada.
