Cheryl Wilson Smith
Through her work, Cheryl explores the human connection to the land through its spiritual resonance. Cheryl’s work has been shown throughout Canada and the US. Her delicate and complex kiln-cast works are inspired by the boreal forest and rocky shores of Red Lake, Ontario where she lives. She has been invited to participate in ‘First Light’ an Artist-in-residence inside the Arctic Circle of Norway where she will be working with renowned American glass artists, Steve Klein and Richard Parrish.
In Cheryl’s own words, “My art explores the passage of time and my sense insignificance in the vast natural world around us. Living in the far north, on the granite and gold of the Canadian Shield and surrounded by Boreal Forest, I explore that the formations, which resonates within my soul. My sculptures, the gossamer fine yet intrinsically strong structures become an active receptacle for interpretations of time and lasting memory. A place for quiet contemplation.”
Cheryl Wilson Smith is represented by Sandra Ainsley Gallery, located in Toronto, the leading contemporary glass art gallery in Canada.
